Its most likely that because the Jews and Gentiles would of ignored Jesus when he claimed to be the son of God and to be the messiah so in other words, Jesus was fed up of preaching to them. Jesus told Paul the apostle to preach unto the Gentiles and Jews because to tell them "the good news".
yes, Jesus contradicted himself.
The Apostle of the Gentiles refers to the Apostle Paul in the Christian tradition. Paul played a significant role in spreading Christianity among non-Jewish communities, hence earning him this title. He is known for his missionary journeys and writings that form a significant part of the New Testament.
Paul, in the Bible, was an Israelite and an apostle of Jesus Christ. (Eph 1:1; Php 3:5)Initially, the Christian message was preached almost exclusively to those of the Jewish faith. (e.g. Matt 10:5-6, 15:24; Acts 9:20-25)However, in due course this ministry was expanded to include non-Jews, i.e. gentiles, (Matt 28:19,20; Acts chapters 10,11; 15:7) and Paul took a lead in this new evangelising focus. (Romans 15:15,16; Gal 1:15-17; 2:1-10, especially verses 7, 8)On this basis, Paul accurately describes himself as an apostle to the gentiles. (Rom 1:1, 11:13)Romans 11:13, some translations:Paul said: "I am ...... the apostle to the Gentiles ~NIV... an apostle to the Gentiles ~Moffat, RSV, GNB... a missionary to the Gentiles ~NEB... a special messenger to you Gentiles ~Living Bible... the apostle of the nations ~KJVA:The Apostle Paul wasn't one of the twelve disciples/apostles. Matthew 10:1-10 and Acts 1:21-26. The Apostle Paul is the Apostle of and to the gentiles; our Apostle. He is a distinct Apostle, and he was the first member of the church which is the body of Christ, so the body of Christ started in Acts 9, when he was saved. Paul didn't start it, God did.Acts 9:15 The Lord told Ananias that He had chosen Paul to bear His name before the Gentiles. This is only one reference to Paul and the Gentiles.Additionally:Much of the New Testament is instruction in the laws and ways of God, written by Paul, and addressed to the churches he planted: the Romans, Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians and Thessalonianswere all GENTILES.So, Paul becoming known as 'the apostle of or to the Gentiles' was not a difficult or all that mysterious of a leap.
Acts 1: 26 says this: "And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell on Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles." Thus quite clearly Matthias was the replacement for Judas who was already dead before Jesus as he hanged himself in despair as recorded.
God entrusted Paul with the stewardship of the gospel, to proclaim the message of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ to both Jews and Gentiles. Paul saw himself as a servant of God chosen to spread the good news of redemption and reconciliation to the world.
Yes, Matthias was chosen to replace Judas as one of the twelve apostles after he hanged himself. This is described in the Book of Acts in the New Testament.
In Matthew's Gospel, Judas returned the money to the priests and then hanged himself. They bought a piece of land for the burial of Gentiles. In Acts of the Apostles, Judas did not return the money, but bought himself some land.
He called himself the Apostle to the Gentiles.
Jesus himself found and selected the 12 apostles.

The Gentiles
None of the 12 apostles, as far as we know, were Gentiles. All except Judas Iscariot (who was from the region called Iscaria) were Jews from Galilee. Paul, sometimes modestly referred to (by himself) as the 'least' of the apostles, who was not one of the 12 was also a Jew but also a Roman citizen. The only major character in the new testament who was a Gentile was Luke - the writer of the third Gospel and the Book of Acts, and a companion of Paul on his Missionary journeys. He was a Greek born in Antioch, and a physician.
Jesus felt that He was praying by Himself. He was with a few of His apostles but He asked them to stay back and He went to pray by himself. Then when He returned to His apostles He found them sleeping. So, He was praying by himself.

He says that he is, however, he is always contradicting himself. A pacifist is someone who believes in peace and not fighting, yet he started a big fight with Stradlater.

Constantine was a vain man who had no objection to being ranked with Christ's Apostles. He likened himself to the first twelve because he was the reason for the success of Christianity in the early fourth century, and at length saw himself as the chief proselyte of the Church. He even arranged to be buried in the Church of the Holy Apostles at Constantinople, with monuments and relics of the Twelve Apostles around him. This made it seem that he was greater than they had been; or, at the very least, that he saw himself as the Thirteenth of them. It was therefore permissible to see a resemblance between Constantine and Peter; and Christian hymn-writers likened him to Paul.
