Everyone goes to heaven, what matters is where you go in heaven. Your life is not yours to take; God created your body for you and should should respect and treat it well. God will judge you fairly, but suicide isn't something that's going to get you where you want to be in heaven.

For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Psalm 146:4 says: "His spirit goes out, he goes back to his ground; in that day his thoughts do perish." When a person dies, his impersonal spirit does not go on existing in another realm as a spirit creature. It "returns to the true God who gave it." (Ecclesiastes 12:7) This means that any hope of future life for that person now rests entirely with God.

The ancient Greek philosophers Socrates and Plato held that a soul inside a person survives death and never dies. What does The Bible teach about the soul? Adam "came to be a living soul," says Genesis 2:7. He did not receive a soul; he was a soul-a whole person. The Scriptures speak of a soul's doing work, craving food, being kidnapped, experiencing sleeplessness, and so forth. (Leviticus 23:30;Deuteronomy 12:20; 24:7; Psalm 119:28) Yes, man himself is a soul. When a person dies, that soul dies.-Ezekiel 18:4.

What, then, is the condition of the dead? When pronouncing sentence upon Adam, Jehovah stated: "Dust you are and to dust you will return." (Genesis 3:19) Where was Adam before God formed him from the dust of the ground and gave him life? Why, he simply did not exist! When he died, Adam returned to that state of complete absence of life. The condition of the dead is made clear at Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10, where we read: "The dead know nothing . . . In the grave, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom." (New International Version) Scripturally, death is a state of nonexistence. The dead have no awareness, no feelings, no thoughts.

Since the dead have no conscious existence, hell cannot be a fiery place of torment where the wicked suffer after death. What, then, is hell? Examining what happened to Jesus after he died helps to answer that question. The Bible writer Luke recounts: "Neither was [Jesus] forsaken in Hades [hell, King James Version] nor did his flesh see corruption."(Acts 2:31) Where was the hell to which even Jesus went? The Apostle Paul wrote: "I handed on toyou . . . that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; and that he was buried, yes, that he has been raised up the third day according to the Scriptures." (1 Corinthians 15:3, 4) So Jesus was in hell, the grave, but he was not abandoned there, for he was raised up, or resurrected.
In a biblical sense, everyone goes to hell which is from the Hebrew term 'Sheol' and the Greek term 'hades' meaning the 'grave or pit.' Jesus even went to hell for 3 full days and 3 full nights. It is not eternal damnation as Dante's 'Inferno' suggests and many religions have incorporated.

Scriptural speaking then, all will be resurrected to stand in a judgement process - not an immediate condemnation for the vast majority of people. These will be given their first chance at truly knowing and accepting Jesus as their 'Passover Lamb' and proving they do. Afterwards, if they hold fast to the end, they will be changed into sons and daughters in the God Family. Those who rebel and those incorrigibly unrepentant, will face the 2nd death - the Lake of Fire to become ashes forever.

The Bible talks of a loving God who is unwilling that any should perish. But this does not mean He will endlessly give chances to repent and receive eternal life. All that is sinful, evil and destructive in this old world will perish and the Kingdom of God will prevail. Chapter two begins here.

//Actually, the Bible is almost silent on the subject of suicide. But technically the act of suicide breaks the Commandment which forbids murder, whether it is murder of another or one's self. But what the Bible does make clear is that the only truly unforgivable sin is the rejection of the Holy Spirit. I believe it was the Roman Catholics that first claimed suicide as unforgivable, not God.//

Anyone who believes that Jesus Christ took the punishment for their sins on the cross is a Christian. If you are a Christian is is impossible to go hell. John 3:16: "For God so loved the world that he gave his Son, the uniquely born one, so that all who believed in Him would never perish but have eternal life" .

If you believe in Heaven, you surely believe in God. If you believe in God then surely you believe that your life is a gift from God and, as such, it is sacred and to honoured as an immeasurably precious gift, by the way you lead your life. We do not have the right to take life, (Thou shalt not kill), not ours or that of anyone else.

My mother committed suicide and to be honest, whether she went to heaven or not I have no idea. It is said that between the act of killing oneself and death there may be repentance... Otherwise, by the very act we would be turning away, or refusing God.

Personally, for me as a believer, it would be wrong for me even to contemplate suicide, or to neglect or damage my life in any way, for the above reasons.

None of the above can apply to a person who is so mentally ill that they are out of their mind.

Every belief system on earth will give you different answer on this one. You have to choose the belief system you want use. Not all religions believe that some acts of suicide fall within the category of an unforgivable act; and not everyone is totally agreed on what constitutes suicide. There are many shades of gray within the extremes. Only a Being of superior discernment and understanding can weigh the physical and emotional factors and considerations that go into a decision to voluntarily leave this life.

Even that wonderful old Book which prohibits "murder" (not killing, but deliberate and intentional murder), specifically says that "No greater love hath man than this: to give one's life for another." [Roughly paraphrased.]

For family members of loved ones who have ended their lives, we have to be sensitive to their grief and loss and not hand them hot coals superheated in a fire that we know nothing about.
