Is the United New Testament Church a mail-order-church ?

It is true that to pass ordination, you must only agree to the doctrine of the church, But Trinity Evangelical Christian Ministries, the educational adjunct, provides courses to help each pastor increase his accreditation.

http:/www.untci.org

1 - There are no personal reference checks.

2 - There are no ministerial reference checks.

3 - There are no religious educational requirements.

4 - There are no criminal background checks.

It is purposefully easy for anyone to become ordained by this church because apostolic ministry is encouraged, but it is understood that it is the pastor's responsibility to increase her credibility with documented education. As with any profession, if one is seeking pastoral care, one should proceed with caution and ask for educational and referential credentials.

I do not agree with the 8 year seminary requirements for Catholic Priests, however, due to way too many "wolfs in sheep's clothing" in churches within

not just the past decade, but even currently !

Ordination in most christian churches requires :

1 - MORE than agreeing to a doctrinal statement of faith !

2 - Personal and ministerial references are A MUST !

3 - Religious educational requirements are A MUST !

4 - Criminal background checks are A MUST !

Without these requirements for Ministerial Ordination, then a homosexual can get

ordination ! then pedophiles can get ordination ! then the queer child abuser will

take advantage of the kids in church ! if a convicted felon or an alcoholic gets

ordination ALL THE MORE shame and embarasments are brought not just to the

Individual Church, but ALOT OF HARM will be done to THOSE IN THE CHURCH !

I have seen way too many mail-order ministers try to counsel persons without

any education or training, only to cause more damage, than to do any good !

Well, it seems the above is a very misinformed response, and possibly libelous.

1) The site clearly states that the applicant's physical, legal identity is validated by a real person before any letter of ordination is extended.

2) UNTCI is actually the ONLY online ordination outreach that DOES provide background checks. I looked.

3) Yes, they do most of their outreach to independent ministers through the medium of the internet. This makes perfect sense, as it is the best way to reach the most people around the world who are feeling called into ministry. "Guilty by association" shouldn't apply here - they are clearly different than ordination mills like the ULC who will ordain anyone, anytime, anywhere for any reason - and your cat, too, if you like.

4) The following clause is at the bottom of every page of their website, so it appears they DO expect a certain level of behavior from their ministers and there is a system of accountability in place: UNTCI retains the right to suspend or revoke any ordination if it is being used for anything other than Christian services. We DO NOT embrace religions that exclude Jesus Christ as the one and only path to salvation. Further, UNTCI reserves the right to revoke ordination at the sole discretion of the Prelate at any time, for any reason, including but not limited to: allegations of fraud, domestic abuse, sexual misconduct or making false claims about UNTCI or one's association therewith.

5) As far as I can tell, they are also the ONLY online ordination ministry that has an annual convention of ministers and real hands-on ordination ceremonies for the newly ordained.

It appears that if one was going to go the route of becoming ordained independently online, UNTCI would be the ONLY legitimate choice.

--------------------

RevTed is obviously a UNTCI employee or has received his mail order ordination and/or bogus degree from UNTCI / TECU. Are their ordinations and degrees/certifications legal? Yes. Are they credible? No - Not worth the paper they are printed on. People will believe what ever they want to in order to satisfy their egos.

I also find certain comments here prejudicial. I was ordained by the ULC in 2004, but after realizing that they were NOT focused on Christian ministry, I transferred my ordination to UNTCI. It's all about faith, and doing what is right in God's eyes. I am an ex-offender, having found Jesus in prison, and He strengthening me to turn my life around. Conversely, I have seen scores of priests and rabbis who have had religious education and background checks who have engaged in criminal activity. One must not judge someone's life before they turned to Christ, but what one has done in His name. Jesus said you will know them by their fruits. If a man was called by God and seeks ordination, UNTCI is a good place. But if it is for dastardly deeds, they will be exposed and their and their ordination revoked. I have been active in Christian ministry for 7 yrs now, and am not engaged in criminal activity or addictive behavior. See what God can do?

Yes, United New Testament Church is known for offering ordination through an online process which some may refer to as a "mail-order" church due to the ease of obtaining ordination. However, individuals are still required to meet certain criteria and pay a fee for the ordination process.

Does the bible say you should attend church?

The Bible, in the New Testament, teaches that the Christian believers ARE the church. It states this many times. The idea of "church" meaning a building is a much more recent idea. At the beginning of the church there probably weren't any church buildings as such. So according to the Bible in the New Testament, Christian believers are part of the church, and the church is the body of Christian believers. The expectation of the New Testament is that Christian believers will be a part of the church, personally involved and in relationship with the other believers. The New Testament does not have anything to say about whether people who are not believing Christians should attend church - there's no rule about it. But there's no reason why they shouldn't. Most of the New Testament was written specifically to churches, not to individuals.
