The word "Trinity" is not in The Bible. However, the concept that while God is "One God" He exists in 3 distinct personalities is clear in scripture.
Christ himself refers to God as His Father. Christ refers to the Holy Spirit as the Comforter, among other names. Finally, in calling God His Father, Christ is allowing that He is the Son of God. Here you have three distinct personalities yet One God. Jesus says He is "One with the Father," telling us that there is no subordinate role here by one being the Father and one being the Son. They are equal, as is the Spirit.
Can we understand this distinctness and separateness, yet oneness? I don't, not well enough to explain it so that everyone understands it. I understand that humans can have multiple personalities as a mental illness. I understand that people have the fleshly body, the soul and the spirit. But the concept that "God is One" yet there is God the Father, God the Son and God the Spirit I take by faith. God has said it in His word and I accept it. I will understand it fully one day.
