Mar 6:24 So she went out and said to her mother, "What shall I ask?" And she said, "The head of John the Baptist!"
Mar 6:25 Immediately she came in with haste to the king and asked, saying, "I want you to give me at once the head of John the Baptist on a platter."
Mar 6:26 And the king was exceedingly sorry; yet, because of the oaths and because of those who sat with him, he did not want to refuse her.

Jesus asked John (the disciple) to taker care of his mother. John 19:26.
Jesus said this while hanging on the cross before he died, outside of the city of Jerusalem.
Mary, the mother of Jesus, and John, one of Jesus' disciples, were both present at the crucifixion and witnessed Jesus dying on the cross. Jesus entrusted John to take care of Mary after his death, highlighting their close relationship.
According to tradition, Saint John the Apostle was present at the crucifixion of Jesus along with Jesus' mother Mary. Jesus entrusted Mary to John's care, saying, "Behold, your mother," and to Mary, "Woman, behold your son." John took Mary into his home and cared for her as his own mother.
Answer: Evidently by the time Jesus died, Joseph, Mary's husband was dead. Jesus, since He was to leave the scene (including the fact that after the resurrection He was going soon to ascend to heaven) cared for His mother by providing John His disciple as a son to take care of her. So His gift was a person, His beloved disciple John. This also meant that she had a home.
Oh, dude, Jesus was totally referring to Mary when he said, "Woman, behold your son." He was basically telling Mary to look at John, who he entrusted to take care of her after he was gone. It's like a biblical version of, "Hey, Mom, meet your new son, John."

The Apostle John When Jesus therefore saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He said to His mother, "Woman, behold your son!" Then He said to the disciple, "Behold your mother!" And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home. (NKJV) John refers to himself as the "disciple Jesus loved" several times in his gospel in order to keep the readers' focus on Jesus, and not call attention to himself.
Mary was not the actual biological mother of John the Apostle but was the biological mother of Jesus. Mary became the mother of John when they stood at the foot of the cross. Before he died, Jesus told Mary "Behold thy son" and to John "Behold thy mother." Jesus wanted to be sure that his mother would be taken care of when he died.
