The crucifixion of Jesus was probably just a fiction, as is readily apparent from Mark's Gospel. In Mark's Gospel, the last 24 hours of the life of Jesus is broken up into eight segments, each of exactly three hours, with the opening set beginning on the evening of the Last Supper and ending with the trial before the Sanhedrin. The second set begins with the trial before Pontius Pilate and ends on the evening of the crucifixion.
This improbable sequence was fiction, not history. It may have been written in this form to be used in early church liturgy, but it certainly has no historical basis.
Mark's Gospel was written approximately 70 CE and is now known to have been the source relied on, directly or indirectly, by the authors of the other gospels for everything they knew about the mission of Jesus. The other gospels varied the structure of this account, making it less obviously artificial, but in the end they were derivative. The truth or falsity of the account must be determined from Mark's Gospel.
Historical and biblical accounts provide evidence that the crucifixion of Jesus was a real event that took place. There are multiple sources outside of The Bible that also mention Jesus's crucifixion. Additionally, early Christian writings and traditions consistently attest to the reality of this event.

The Gospels of Matthew and Mark say that Mary Magdalene was among the women who watched form afar off; none of the acquaintances of Jesus was actually at the crucifixion. Luke's Gospel is similar, although it only says that the women watched from afar off. John's Gospel says that Mary the mother of Jesus was actually at the crucifixion, but does not mention Mary Magdalene or any other women.
A:Joseph is not even mentioned in the first gospel to be written, Mark's Gospel, and only appears in Matthew and Luke for the nativity and childhood years of Jesus. Otherwise there is no mention of him in the gospels. Some say that he must have died shortly after the birth of Jesus. However, it would have to have been after Jesus was 12 because he is mentioned being lost by Mary and Joseph in Luke 2.A:Joseph is thought to have been dead by the time of the crucifixion since Jesus handed the care of his mother Mary to one of the disciples before he died.
