Genesis 12:1-3New King James Version (NKJV) Genesis 12Promises to Abram1 Now the LORD had said to Abram:"Get out of your country,From your familyAnd from your father's house,To a land that I will show you.2 I will make you a great nation;I will bless youAnd make your name great; And you shall be a blessing.3 I will bless those who bless you,And I will curse him who curses you;And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.
Abraham and his relatives settled in Canaan after leaving Ur in Mesopotamia. They left due to a call from God to go to a new land that He promised to give them. This event is described in the Bible as the beginning of God's covenant with Abraham and the establishment of the Jewish people.
* yes he did * No. In Genesis, the story of Babel is told immediately before the story of Abraham starts, but it is a completely different story. Abraham was called by God to leave his home in Ur of the Chaldees. This is a different place from Babel as well as a different time frame, as already mentioned. 1Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee: 2And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: 3And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. 4So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran. 5And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came. Although the family history (genealogical record) of Abraham is mentioned in Genesis 11:10-32 it makes no mention of Abraham ever having been in Babel. It is possible that Abraham's city of Ur arose as did many others due to the dispersion if peoples necessitated by the confusion of languages at Babel, which had occurred earlier. The account of Babel is in Genesis 11:1-9, and although undoubtedly some of the ancestors of Abraham were around at the time of Babel it is thought that Abraham lived somewhat later. Did God call Abraham - Yes. Did God call him from Babel - no. It was from Ur.
An important action Abraham made was to leave his homeland in Ur and travel to Canaan in response to God's call. This decision to leave behind familiarity and trust in God's promise led to Abraham becoming the father of many nations and the starting point of what would eventually become the nation of Israel.
Abraham left Haran because God instructed him to do so. Some scholars claim that he waited until after the death of his father to leave Haran, but others claim he elft before Terah's death, due to God telling him to leave for a new land.

No read your bible. Noah and the flood was hundreds of years earlier. It was Abraham who talks with God in Genesis 18. In Genesis 19 Lot is warned by two angels after Abraham intercedes for him with God.
Genesis 8:15-17 tells us that it was GOD who told Noah and his family to leave the ark.
The story of Abraham is found in the Old Testament, specifically in the book of Genesis. It tells the story of God calling Abraham to leave his homeland and go to a land that God would give him. It includes important events such as the promise of God to make Abraham into a great nation and the testing of Abraham's faith through the command to sacrifice his son Isaac.
Abraham's journey (Genesis ch.12) hints that every person can become great, can become a leader, can become holy, and can follow his/her instinct to sense God's calling. Not everyone must leave their country of birth as Abraham had to, but everyone must leave their childishness and their spiritual torpor.
This statement was spoken by God to Abraham in the Old Testament of the Bible, specifically in Genesis 12:1-3. God called Abraham to leave his homeland and go to a new land that He would show him, promising to make him into a great nation and bless him.

One of the major testaments to Abraham's faith and trust is the fact that hepicked up and left even though he was not told where to go.Start reading at Genesis 12, and it pretty much hits you in the face. Abrahamwas basically instructed: Leave! Get out of the place you know, the place whereyou were born, the place where you live with your extended family, and go!Just start moving, and when you get to a place where I want you to be, I'lllet you know. And the very next detail in the text is: "And so he went." There'sno indication of any ambivalence or hesitation.God told abraham to go to Canan (aka israel).
