A:In one sense, something is abstract if it is not concrete, and perhaps we can use this term to describe the supernatural or the spiritual. In another sense, something is abstract if it exists in thought rather than in reality. To see God as an abstract god in this sense is to understand that he is a product of human imagination, but not as a conscious fiction, rather as the result of generations in which people have sought to understand that which controls the world. The way in which the perception of God has changed over time suggests that he really is abstract in this sense.

We see in the Book of Genesis that God walked and talked to Adam, understood by the early Israelites to be so similar to ordinary humans. In the story of the Exodus, we see that he rode in the mercy seat mounted on top of the Ark of the Covenant. Archaeologists have found many early Hebrew artefacts that depict God in different ways but in human form just like any other Near Eastern god. By the late monarchy the Jews had apparently ceased depicting God in physical form, although a post-Exilic Jewish coin, now held in the British Museum, once again depicts a divinity that can only have been God.

Scholars say that the Hebrews believed in El, the West Semitic father of the gods, and in Yahweh (YHWH), who became the national god and was responsible for military success and national prosperity. Quite early in the monarchy, Yahweh became syncretised with El, and later took on the attributes of Baal. Initially a storm God in both Israel and Judah, Yahweh became the moon God in Israel but the sun God in Judah. By the late monarchy, Yahweh was becoming the familiar, transcendent God we are now familiar with.

These evolutions of God over a period of almost a thousand years suggest that he really is an abstract god, forged in the minds of generations of followers.

Viewing God as an abstract deity means perceiving a higher power as formless, transcendent, and beyond human comprehension. This perspective focuses on the philosophical essence of God rather than specific religious doctrines or representations. It can lead to a more inclusive and universal understanding of divine presence.

What si god?

I have "SI GOD" as my vanity plate on my car and I get questions about it daily. Si is pronounced "see", so "si god" can mean "see god". That is, we need to be able to see God. Where? Everywhere! I work with worship media and I believe some people are visual learners and I help them to see God. Also, "si" is Spanish for "yes". So, "si god" can mean "yes, God!". We need to say yes to God daily. We need to follow our creator.

Can god be seen by th physical eye?

God cannot be seen by the physical eye. God cannot be found. God has to be realized. God is a power. It is like asking - can we see electricity with the eye? We can't see electricity but we can see the bulb glow because of electricity. We can see the motor turning because of electricity and we can realize there is electricity. So also, those who realize God experience God in all His manifestations. God is everywhere, in everything. Unfortunately, we are trying to find God in a statue, in a saint, in a temple, in a church. We must change our search. We must try to realize God, try to experience God, not try to find God, see God or touch God. God is a power that is within us, we are searching outside, how can we see God?

Lyrics of James Cleveland The Love of God?

The love of God guides me along my way. The love of God never lets me stray. The love of God makes me know when I'm right. The love of God leads me to the Light. The love of God walks and He talks with me. The love of God makes my blind eyes to see. The love of God is always by my side. The love of God one day you told me you'd be my guide. The love of God is my comfort when I feel alone. The love of God will pick you up and make you strong. The love of God is always right there. The love of God is everywhere.

What can the present see that god can't see?

There is nothing that God can't see, whatever the present is, is created by God. God can see the past, present and future. We human beings can only see the present, we can't see the future. But God, the creator can see it all. Unfortunately, we don't know the meaning of God, we don't know who is God, where is God and what is God. Therefore we ask questions like what is it that God can't see? Don't we realize that every moment is a gift from God, our life is a gift from God? What is it that God can't do? God is omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscient. First, let us realize the Truth about God.

No, you cannot see God, but you can realize God in real life. Can you see electricity? No, you can't. But you can see the bulb glow that shows the presence of electricity. So also God is an energy and that energy is in everything, in you, and me, and in all that moves and crawls in the universe. Unfortunately, we are trying to see God, to find God, which we can't. We have to realize God by opening our real eyes.
