Numerology which is tied up with superstition and gambling, has no place in the Christian walk of life! I am not talking about numbered bible passages such as John 3:l6 but the other angle. some decades back a so-called monologue song attempted to harmonize Christianity and Gambling and on the numerical angle they did have an explanation for the number nine but it was rather far-fetched, there are no problems with the trinity ( 3) The general lucky 7 (days of the week, sacraments, etc) and of course ten ( commandments of the Decalogue) but some numbers, well, any direct biblical linkage is to say the least, dicey. the record was extremely controversial as it seemed to loosely reflect Roman Catholic doctrine, not evangelical and implied a churchly tolerance for Gambling, the author of the narrative clearly made it up as he went along- the lilnkage of the Jack with the Devil, for example- I always thought the jack was a Prince, or maybe a Knight, sometimes he is protrayed with a Knight"s helmet. (there was only one King John of England, by the way) the whole narrative poem ( Deck of Cards) is in monumental bad taste and cannot be taken seriously they did run into problems with nine, by the way. of course there are (Pluto counted- some astronomers do not consider Pluto a planet but is is too big to be an asteroid) Nine Planets in the solar system and it is thought that Dante was (On( to this. it"s p[ossibly He knew Earth was third from the Sun and assumed a geometrical progression- 3 X3 is Nine- there you have it. but that"s all, Brethern.
