In the commandment, thou shalt not kill, the word translated "kill" is "ratsach". In order to understand Moses' intent in writing the commandment, let us examine how Moses used the word in other scripture.
Moses used the word Ratsach in Deuteronomy 4:42. If murder and ratsach are the same thing, we should be able to use them interchangeably. Let's substitute MURDER for ratsach in this scripture.
"That the slayer might flee thither, which should MURDER his neighbor UNAWARES, and HATED HIM NOT, in times past and that fleeing unto one of these cities he might live".
Clearly, murder cannot be substituted for ratsach, in this case, for murder is not committed unawares, or in the absence of hatred. Moses is describing negligent homicide or accidental death. The word Ratsach is clearly used by Moses to mean the taking of life, whether of the innocent or the guilty, whether intentional or unintentional.
"Thou shall not kill" in the Ten Commandments is a prohibition against unjustifiable homicide. It is meant to convey the value of human life and discourage murder as an act that violates the sanctity of life. This commandment is intended to promote peace, respect, and the protection of all individuals.
Not necessarily. The Ten Commandments are a set of biblical principles that are primarily known within Judeo-Christian traditions. People of other religions or non-religious backgrounds may not be familiar with them.
The two greatest commandments are to love God with all your heart, soul, and mind, and to love your neighbor as yourself. Jesus spoke of these commandments in the Bible as keys to living a righteous and fulfilling life.
The commandment that is most misunderstood is "Do not take the Lord's name in vain." This is often interpreted as simply avoiding using curse words, but it actually refers to invoking God's name insincerely or without reverence.
And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. 4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. 5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, 6 And And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. 4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. 5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, 6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in theirhands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. 7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. 8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; 9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. 10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. 11 Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him. saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. The text where the Ten Commandments are being broken is found in Exodus 32, where the Israelites create a golden calf to worship while Moses is receiving the commandments from God on Mount Sinai. This act of idolatry directly violates the first two commandments regarding having no other gods before the Lord and not making graven images.

Answer Thou Shall Not Cheat. That quote comes from the Ten Commandments and depending on what you mean about messing around, it could probably fall under that Commandmant.
