In the commandment, thou shalt not kill, the word translated "kill" is "ratsach". In order to understand Moses' intent in writing the commandment, let us examine how Moses used the word in other scripture.

Moses used the word Ratsach in Deuteronomy 4:42. If murder and ratsach are the same thing, we should be able to use them interchangeably. Let's substitute MURDER for ratsach in this scripture.

"That the slayer might flee thither, which should MURDER his neighbor UNAWARES, and HATED HIM NOT, in times past and that fleeing unto one of these cities he might live".

Clearly, murder cannot be substituted for ratsach, in this case, for murder is not committed unawares, or in the absence of hatred. Moses is describing negligent homicide or accidental death. The word Ratsach is clearly used by Moses to mean the taking of life, whether of the innocent or the guilty, whether intentional or unintentional.

What are two greatest commandments?

1. God wants you to put all your faith into his hands, trust in him with your whole heart and rely on him. Here is phrase called FROG, fully rely on god. Love god with your heart and soul. He is your ruler which you trust with your life. Live alongside him and trust his judgments which his son Jesus has stated very long ago (10 commandments). 2. Treat your neighbour as you would like to be treated. Show the respect to your neighbour and his belongings and family as you would like him to do for youself

Which of the Ten Commandments is most misunderstood?

Many (if not all) of the Ten Commandments are misunderstood. For years, the English translation "Thou shalt not kill" prevented many Christians from fighting as soldiers in wars. The correct Jewish translation is "Thou shalt not murder" which allow for the killing of enemy combatants during a "just" war. Considering that God commanded Joshua and the Hebrew to kill all the people of Jericho would itself break the law if killing was not allowed. In the Sermon on the Mount in book of Matthew chapter 5, people were reminded that committing adultery was committed even if one looks lustfully at a women.Likewise, there is much confusion of observation of the Sabbath for Christians.

What are the three things the devil tempts Jesus with?

And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. 4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. 5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, 6 And And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. 4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. 5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, 6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in theirhands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. 7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. 8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; 9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. 10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. 11 Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him. saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. What is the paragraph where the ten commandments are being broken?

A Biblical passage (or, paragraph) in which the Ten Commandments are broken is found in the Old Testament book of Exodus, Chapter 32. Here, the Israelites build and then worship a 'Golden Calf,' which is an explicit violation of the First Commandment: 'Thou shalt have no other gods before me.'
