"Paschal" means "of or relating to the Passover," and is most often applied to the sacrifice of the "paschal lamb." (God's instructions to the children of Israel regarding the first Passover are found in Exodus 12). The paschal lamb was a "type" (foreshadowing) of the sacrifice of Christ.

John 1:29 - The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!" [NKJV]
