They are pagans, and their religion is hundreds of years old. Sadly, wiccans (often called witches) have been unfairly stereotyped over the centuries and often persecuted because they were not Christians and because their rituals were widely misunderstood. Today, there is somewhat more tolerance of the Wiccan faith, although myths about their beliefs still persist.
