This is a different translation that I enjoy reading. It has helped me a lot with understanding scripture. i hope it is a help to you!
Jesus went down to Capernaum in Galilee. He taught them on the days of Rest. The people were surprised and were wondering about His teaching. His words had power. A man in the Jewish place of worship had a demon. He cried with a loud voice, "What do You want of us, Jesus of Nazareth? I know Who You are. You are the Holy One of God." Jesus spoke sharp words to the demon adn said, "Do not talk! Com out of him!" when the demen had thrown the man down, he came out without hurting the man. The people were all surprised. They asked each other, "What kind of word is this: He speaks to the demons with pewer and they come out!" The news about Jesus went through all the country. -Luke 4:31-37-
In these verses, Jesus is describing the sudden and unexpected nature of his return. He uses the imagery of two men in a field and two women grinding at a mill, emphasizing that when he returns, it will happen swiftly and without warning. This serves as a reminder for believers to be prepared and vigilant for his coming.
Many people think this scripture and the one on Matthew 24:40 is a reference to the "rapture" of the church. But if you will look at the context, Jesus is teaching on His Second Coming to earth to judge. The ones to be taken are removed from the earth to the place of judgment. When Jesus Christ returns at the Second Coming and has "taken care of business" the earth will be home for the Israelites that are still alive and home for the "sheep" nations. Jesus Christ will reign and rule from Jerusalem on David's throne for 1000 years. This is called the Millennium, or the Millennial Kingdom.
The last part of verse 37 is the eagle-carcass imagery and speaks of the judgment that will accompany Christ's return.
The verse "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone" can be found in the Gospel of John, not in the Gospel of Luke. It is in John 8:7.
The Bible verse found in Luke 1:31 states: "And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus." This verse is part of the annunciation of the birth of Jesus to Mary by the angel Gabriel.
Luke 2:19 describes Mary reflecting on the events surrounding the birth of Jesus and treasuring them in her heart. This verse highlights Mary's contemplation and deep emotional response to the miraculous events unfolding around her. It signifies the importance of cherishing and pondering moments of divine significance.
The shortest verse in the Gospel of Luke is Luke 20:30, which reads "And the second took her to wife, and he died childless."
Mark 14 with 72 verses is the third longest. And Matthew 26 with 75 verses is the second longest!
