In Luke the healing of sick by Jesus begins in Chapter 5. In verse 5 a man with leprosy approaches him and says, "if you are willing you can make me clean." Jesus reaches out and touches the man, saying I am willing, be clean. Immediately leprosy left the man. Jesus tells him to tell no one but to go to the priests and make sacrifice to Moses. News spread however.
Then in verse 17 friends of a paralyzed man brought him on a mat to be healed. Jesus was preaching to the Pharisees and teachers and the crowds were large. The men had to drop the man on the mat through the roof to reach Jesus. Jesus saw their effort, said friend your sins are forgiven. The listening men protested accusing blasphemy and asking his right to forgive sins. Jesus answered which is easier to forgive sins or to tell this man to pick up his mat and walk. Jesus shows his authority to forgive sins by telling the man to get up, pick up his mat and go home. And the man did. The witnesses were filled with awe and amazement.
Jesus healed a variety of sicknesses and ailments, including leprosy, blindness, paralysis, fever, and demon possession, among others. He performed numerous miracles of healing as recorded in The Bible.
The first gospel to be written was Mark's Gospel, and this seems to have introduced Jesus' miracles somewhat tentatively. Two early miracles are the cure of a deaf and dumb man (7:32) and of blind man (8:23). In these, Jesus had to use spit and even had difficulty in completing one cure successfully. It was customary in ancient times for holy men to use spit when curing afflictions, and the manner of performing these two cures was so orthodox that Mark could have created the stories simply based on his knowledge of anecdotes about holy men in general.
The centurion went to Jesus asking for healing because his servant was paralyzed and suffering. He believed in Jesus' power to heal and showed great faith, asking Jesus to simply speak a word for his servant to be healed. Jesus commended the centurion for his faith and granted his request.
Jesus took Peter, James, and John with him when he went to heal Jairus' daughter. These three disciples often accompanied Jesus on important occasions, such as the Transfiguration and Gethsemane.
The Biblical character of Jairus was a patron or ruler of a synagogue in Galilee, who had asked Jesus to heal his 12-year-old daughter, who, according to the varying accounts of the Bible, was dying (Mark; Luke) or had already died (Matthew).
In the Bible, Jesus performed numerous miracles to heal and care for the disabled. For example, in Matthew 9:1-8, Jesus healed a paralyzed man by telling him to get up and walk. In Mark 10:46-52, Jesus restored sight to a blind man named Bartimaeus. These acts demonstrate Jesus's compassion and love for those who are disabled.
The two people Jesus appeared to on the road to Damascus were Saul (who later became known as the apostle Paul) and Ananias. Jesus appeared to Saul in a blinding light and spoke to him, causing him to become a believer and change his ways. Ananias was instructed by Jesus to go to Saul and heal him of his blindness.
