What promise did God make to Moses?

God promised Moses that He would be with him, guide him, and help him in leading the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt to the Promised Land. God also promised to reveal His name to Moses as "I AM WHO I AM" to emphasize His eternal and unchanging nature.

I'm sure the Israelites promised God a lot. After the Lord has deliverd the Israelites from Egypt, as He had promised, He then promises them that if they do as He commands, He will lift them up and they will be known as a treasure to the rest of the world. Then "the people all responded together, 'We will do everything the LORD has said.'" (Exodous 19:8). This is a common saying of the Israelites, and almost as soon as they promise the Lord their allegience and love, they are off rebelling from his ways. Just verses from now, while Moses is receiving the ten commandments, the people become impatient and form a gold cow and worship it. While I'm quick to wonder at how flighty these people are, I can't help but see myself in this story. I'm so quick to stand for God and commit my life to him, and daily I fail. Praise the Lord for His grace. But again, when the commandments are read to Israel, they promise, with each decree, that they will follow the Lord and uphold his commands. They know God has done great things for them and they WANT to please Him and be righteous. But God already knows they will fail. Back in Genesis 15, God made a covenant with Abraham, the father of the Israelites, and those who will believe in God. Normally in a covenant, it's two sided. God made his covenant which basically says "If I fail my promise to you and yours, then I will die" next should have been Abraham's turn. He was supposed to make the covenant "and if I fail my promise to you, if I don't live a righteous and holy life within your commands, then I will die." That's what should have happened. But God already knew, so he made the covenant on OUR behalf. Saying "If YOU do not uphold your covenant, if you sin and fall short- I know you will, I'm not asking you to be perfect because in this life you can't- then I will die. I will die for your sins because I want you to be reconciled and live with me." In Genesis 15, God proclaims the death of Jesus, to bring our salvation. Praise Him.

The Lord promised Moses that He would deliver His people ( Israel ) from Egypt and bring them into a land of abundance - that is, Canaan - inhabited by the six heathen nations listed in verse 8.
