The Quinceanera is the Spanish/Mexican equivalent of an American

Sweet Sixteen party, but is celebrated on a young woman's fifteenth

birthday. It is a gala celebration and much looked forward to by the

young lady and her family and friends. As far as I know, it has nothing

to do with religion, but rather tradition.
