After spending entirely too much time online, reading search results for
"John Ringling", "Ringling brothers", "Ringling religion", "Jews in show business",
"Ringling family", "Jews in business", "Famous Jews", "List of well-known Jews",
and "Jews in the circus", I have yet to find any association between the
Ringlings and any suggestion of Jewish ancestry. Based, then, on my research
of the past two hours or so, I'd be inclined to report that there's a high
probability that he was not. But I'll keep looking for something that tells what
the family's background WAS, and maybe one of the many better-informed
contributors who hang around this category will drop in with some real info,
and relieve me of my quest.
