The covenant. There were actually two covenants which God made with Abraham (Genesis ch.15 and Genesis ch.17).
1) In Genesis ch.15, the Covenant Between the Parts:
a) God informs Abraham of future events (the Egyptian exile)
b) God promises the land of Canaan (Israel) to Abraham's descendants
c) The covenant is finalized through a demonstration of God's presence (see Genesis 15:7-9 and 15:17).
2) In Genesis ch.17, the covenant of circumcision:
a) The promises of many descendants (17:2,3) and of inheriting the land of Canaan are repeated (17:8), but the main thing in this covenant is the promise that God will be the God of Abraham (17:7, 17:8).
b) God promises that Abraham and Sarah will have a son (17:15-16), whom they will name Isaac (17:19) and who will be the continuation of God's covenant with Abraham (17:21).
c) The covenant itself is manifested through circumcision, for Abraham and his descendants (17:10).
Covenant.
An agreement between God and his people is typically called a covenant, not grace. Grace is often defined as God's unmerited favor and is an important aspect in Christian theology, but it is not synonymous with a covenant.
God called Abraham righteous because of his faith and obedience. Abraham trusted in God's promises, demonstrated by his willingness to leave his homeland and obey God's commands, such as when he was prepared to sacrifice his son Isaac. This faith and obedience showed Abraham's righteousness before God.
The solemn agreement between God and the Israelites is known as the "Covenant" or the "Covenant of Moses." It outlined the terms of their relationship, including God's promises to the Israelites and their responsibilities in return.
The symbol of God's covenant with Abraham is circumcision, which was the physical sign of the covenant between God and Abraham's descendants. This practice was to be continued throughout generations as a reminder of God's promises to Abraham and his descendants.
This was the way covenants were done during the Bronze age. You sacrificed certain animals and walked between them, getting their blood on you. The implication was if you broke the covenant, then your opponent could do the same thing to you as you did to the animals.
The Abrahamic Covenant.
God would bless Abraham and his descendants.

I believe this is the convenant that God made with Abraham to make of Abraham's family a great nation.
The agreement between God and Abraham. God told Abraham to get a "brit milah", which is circumcision, and he did. But before that all happened, there is a story that is interesting about how the people in the city where Abraham lived (Ur Chasdim), everyone believed that the idols moved the world and then Abraham realized they were stupid and wrong. Abraham smashed the idols, leaving one standing, and placed the hammer in its hand. Abraham began to preach his learnings of monotheism and soon, it became a tribe as he traveled and taught everyone. Soon, there was the nation of AM YISRAEL (Nation of Israel)

It is called the "Covenant"-- the promise Abraham made with God, and God made with Abraham.

God, Abraham and Moses are all still called by their names. Only Jacob's name was changed and he is now called Israel.
