He was considered a "saint" by the people of his town because he did so many wonderful deeds, helping out doctors, giving speeches about how great life is, however he did not believe or had doubts in his faith in God. So it can't be answered, its opinion, either you believe someone is a saint for acting out good deeds on a daily basis or a saint is someone who truly believes in what they preach for and do daily.
