This would be the feast of 'Passover' (Exodus 12:12-27/Hebrews 11:28(Matthew 26:1/John 1:29/1 Corinthians 5:7), which was so named because God's angel 'passed over' the houses of obedient people, who had followed God's command to put blood on the doorposts of their houses. Those who did NOT listen and obey, suffered great loss with the death of their firstborn. This symbolism pointed forward to the death and pouring out of blood of the coming Messiah(God's 'first born'(Colossians 1:15)...where obedience to God's directives and faith in the blood of that sacrifice, would save lives as it had back in Egypt and under the Mosaic Law for centuries afteward.(1 Peter 1:19-21/Matthew 26:27-28 /Ephesians 1:7/Hebrews 9:22/Leviticus 9:1-24).
Passover - a feast to this day.
The Hebrew people referred to the angel of God saving their firstborn as the Passover, where God passed over the houses of the Israelites marked with lamb's blood, sparing their firstborn from the final plague in Egypt.
The central saving action of the Old Testament is considered to be the covenant between God and the Israelites, where God promises to be their God and they promise to be His people. This covenant forms the basis of their relationship and sets the stage for salvation history as God works to redeem and deliver his people.
Reuben was the firstborn son of Jacob (Genesis ch.29) and ancestor of the Israelite tribe that bears his name. He played a part in the saving of his half-brother Joseph (see Genesis ch.37). The inheritance of the tribe of Reuben was in the Transjordan (Numbers ch.32).
The Paschal Mystery is celebrated and made present in the liturgy of the Church, and its saving effects are communicated through the sacraments, especially the Eucharist, which renews the paschal sacrifice of Christ as the sacrifice offered by the Church
