Abraham was a hundred years old when God made this promise, and still 100 years old when Isaac was born. These seem improbable ages for them to have a son, and with good reason. The Book of Genesis is noteworthy for attributing to people ages - like 90 and 100 - that are easy to remember for oral story-telling, or which are based on the number 17. If we look at the lifespans of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, The Bible says that:
These ages are so well-contrived that we should accept that even if Abraham and Sarah were real, historical people, they would not have lived to these great ages, nor would they have had a child at exactly 100 and 90 years old, respectively.
Yes, it was unusual for Sarah to have Isaac at 100 years old because it is biologically rare for women to conceive and give birth at such an advanced age. Sarah's pregnancy and childbirth were considered miraculous in the biblical account.
well in my beleif, i would think since that people lived to 300 in those days, i would say that they were at least in thier late 90's or 100's untill sarah was atully going to know about having isaac in the first place. But some where around there sarah had isaac.
Traditional chronology puts the birth of Isaac in 1712 BCE, when his father Abraham was one hundred years old.See also:More about Abraham and Isaac
Isaac is sometimes called "the child of the promise" because God promised Abraham that Sarah would have a son despite her old age, and Isaac was born miraculously fulfilling that promise. Isaac's birth symbolizes God's faithfulness in keeping His promises to His chosen people.
A:According to biblical tradition, Abraham was the first of the patriarchs, followed by his son Isaac and then Jacob. Genesis 17:17 says that Sarah was 90 years old when God said to Abraham that she would conceive and bear a son. Abraham was exactly 100 years old when Isaac was born. Isaac, in turn, was exactly 60 years old when Jacob and Esau were born. These seem improbable ages for them to have their sons, not only because of their extreme ages but because they are such nice, round numbers, implying that Abraham was not really a hundred years old. This can be attributed to the need for the tradents who passed these stories down orally into the first millennium BCE to remember so much detail. They needed names that prompted them as to the related storyline (Abraham - "Father of many") and numbers that were easy to remember.
The time lapse between Abraham leaving his home country (Ur) and Sarah giving birth to Isaac was about 25 years. Abraham left Ur when he was 75 years old, and Isaac was born when Abraham was 100 years old.

Abraham was a very old man, almost 100 years old when he had Isaac by his wife Sarah.
he was almost 100 years old
A:The story in Genesis chapters 18,21 says that Isaac was born to Abraham and Sarah when Abraham was 100 years old and Sarah was 90. The story recognises that these were improbable ages, saying that Abraham laughed when God told him that he would have a son at such a great age. They are nice, round numbers because the tradents who passed these stories down orally into the first millennium BCE generally used numbers that were easy to remember. Isaac was, in turn, 60 years old when Jacob and Esau were born.

When Sarah was almost 90 years old, God changed her name and promised her a son. A year later Isaac was born. Abraham was 100 years old at the time of the birth.

They both Abraham and Sarah his wife were well in years he was about 100 , when he left for Canaan.
Abraham had a son when he was 100 years old, the son was named Isaac.
The unusual part in the story of Abraham is that god promised Abraham that he would bless him with children as numerous as the stars and the grains of the sand, but Abraham was 100 years old at that time, and his wife Sarah was barren, so it is extraordinary that the Jewish race and Islamic nation come from a hundred year old man.
God tested Abraham's obedience by asking him to sacrifice his only son Isaac, we must remember that Abraham , got Isaac when he was 100 years old.
