The best person to answer that question is the Creator of mankind.

When God created the first man Adam, the Book of Genesis 2: 17 shows that God put life and death before him, it reads. "But for the tree of the knowledge of good and bad, you must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will certainly die"

That command would have made no sense if Adam was meant to grow old and die anyway. Adam knew that if he did not eat from the tree, he would not die.

By not eating from the tree, the first couple would have shown their obedience to the One who gave them life. It would have shown that they recognized God's right to direct their way. Well ! That did not happen.

Genesis chapter 3 is mankind's history. Genesis 3: 19 shows us what happens when we die. It reads. "For dust you are and to dust you will return".

Genesis 2: 7 shows that we were formed with the dust from the ground. Adam did not go to heaven or pass on to some spirit realm. He had no existence before Jehovah God created him from the dust of the ground. So when he died, he became as lifeless as the dust from which he was created. he ceased to exist.

The source of life comes from Jehovah God, who has the power to bring us back from death, as the Book of John 5: 28,29 shows that when we die, we remain in God's memory, in the memorial tombs, which is called resurrection, which literally means ' a standing up again' and it refers to a rising up from death.

The Book of John 3: 16 reads: " For God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son, so that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life.

Today we are in the same position as Adam and Eve. We have the opportunity to show God our desire and determination to live up to His requirements.
