Before Christ died there were two places where the spirits of the deceased went,one was called Hell (Not the hell where Satan dwells) but a place for those who disbelieved the prophets when they heard them speak of Christ. Also all those who were wicked. The other place was called Paradise where dwelt the righteous. Before Christ died these two places were kept apart. When Christ died His spirit went first to the prison which held the righteous spirits. These righteous spirits were taught the gospel and were sent to preach the gospel to the unbelievers. This was the first time that the two were able to mix.
