See the verses of The Bible that talk about this below.
The Bible does not give you any specific reason why they went to see Jesus except the obvious.
In the first sentence it says that they were watching their sheep in the fields at night. Then an Angel of the Lord appeared and the Glory of the Lord shone around them.
Then the angel told them to go to Bethlehem
Bible Verses:
And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I
bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger. Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests. When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about." So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.
Luke 2:8-20 (NIV)
Micah 4:8 foretells where Messiah would be born.
And thou, O tower of the flock, the strong hold of the daughter of Zion, unto thee shall it come, even the first dominion; the kingdom shall come to the daughter of Jerusalem.
Micah 5:2 also foretells what city the Messiah would be born in.
But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall come forth to Me the One to be Ruler in Israel, whose goings forth are from of old, from everlasting."
The "tower of the flock" is the Hebrew phrase Migdal Edar and means "watch tower of the flock". This tower was for the flocks which produced lambs that there were destined for Temple sacrifices. The shepherds who kept them were men who were specifically trained for raising sacrificial lambs. They were educated in what it took to keep these lambs spotless and unharmed. Ewes were brought to the tower and their deliveries were overseen by the priests. These lambs were wrapped in "swaddling cloths" to protect them from injury so they would be an acceptable sacrifice - without spot or blemish.
The shepherds that kept the special flock near Bethlehem would have certainly known these prophesies from Micah. Since only the sacrificial lambs were wrapped in swaddling cloths, the shepherds knew exactly where to go to find the babe! On another note, I'd like to suggest why Mary and Joseph went to the Tower of the Flock for her delivery. Most biblical scholars agree that Jesus was born in the Fall, during the Feast of Tabernacles - a celebration of the LORD's presence. (And the Word became flesh and "tabernacled" among us!) At this time, Jews lived in temporary shelters or booths. Would the blood from Mary's delivery make the booth and those living in it "unclean?" If so, the Tower of the Flock was kept ceremonially clean, so it was a perfect place for the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world, to be born. Just something else to consider about the birth of our Saviour!
The shepherds found Jesus in Bethlehem, lying in a manger as the angels had directed them.
From a field nearby. "And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night." Luke 2:8

'Shepherds' is the subject while 'Jesus' is the direct object.
Yes, according to the Bible, the angels told the shepherds that they would find baby Jesus wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger, which is a feeding trough for animals typically found in a stable.
The shepherds believed the angels' message because they immediately went to Bethlehem to see the newborn baby, Jesus, for themselves. Their actions demonstrated that they trusted the message they had received from the angels.
The shepherds visited him in a different account.
The shepherds learned of Jesus' birth through an angel who appeared to them while they were out in the fields watching over their flock during the night. The angel told them the good news of the birth of the Savior and directed them to find the baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger in Bethlehem.
The question is not clear, Is it the shepherds, wisemen, Peter , you are asking about.
'Shepherds' is the subject while 'Jesus' is the direct object.
Be sure and check your info with the Bible. The Wise Men were following a star, in order to find Jesus. The shepherds were different.
I could find no record of Jesus meeting a shepherd. He is regarded as a shepherd of mankind. Possibly you mean the shepherds who came when Jesus was born, that was in Bethlehem.

The shepherds did not give Jesus gifts. The wise men from the east gave Jesus gifts of gold, frankincence, and myrrh. He was about two years old when they came.
It was the angels who announced it to the shepherds.
