I don't know about "keys", but there is a passage in Matthew where Jesus tells Peter that He will build His church, and the GATES of hell (Hades) will not overcome it. Jesus then goes on to say that He will give the keys to the kingdom of Heaven, and whatever is bound on earth will be bound in heaven, whatever is loosed on earth will be loosed in heaven. (Matthew 16:17-20) God bless! ANSWER:

Christ has the keys of hell (Revelation 1:18). The Greek word is Hades. Take away the Pagan Greek philosophical meanings attached to the word and you realize it is simply the grave. Christ has the keys to the grave because he is the only one through whom salvation (and therefore eternal life) is available (Acts 4:10-12).

The mention of the "keys of hell" is found in the Book of Revelation 1:18, where Jesus declares that he holds the keys of death and Hades, symbolizing his power over life and death. This passage emphasizes Jesus' authority over the afterlife and his victory over sin and death through his resurrection.

Did Christ go to Hell to get the keys to death and Hades?

Revelation 1:18 reads: "I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death." The Bible nowhere says that Jesus had to retrieve the "keys" of Hades and Death from Hell or that they were under the control of Satan. There were some early Christians who took that position, which is growing in popularity among some Christian groups today; but it is mere speculation.
