According to the information provided in Hebrew Bible the Temple of Solomon was built in Jerusalem, situated on the Temple Mount (Mount Zion). However, the temple was destroyed in 587 BCE during the siege of Jerusalem.
I Kings Ch.8 verse 1 says that the Ark had to be brought up from the city of David which is Zion. If the temple was built on Mount Zion why is there the need to bring the Ark up from Zion?

That tablernacle was in the city of Zion and the ark was moved from there to the temple site in Jerusalem. I have no idea geographically if Zion and Jerusalem are the same location????, but in any case, we see the ark moved from a temporary to permanent house.
