Religion often treats women unfairly by accusing them of being the downfall of man. Women are also not allowed to participate in many religious services and are not allowed to become high office holders within the church. Some religions even state that women are the property of men and can be beaten or abused at the will of their owner.

All women rights are assured in Islam religion (per Quran God revelation to prophet Muhammad, PBUH) before other previous religions and before even UN decree of women rights. However, both Islam and Judaism religions do not allow women to practice any kind of sex outside marriage and don't allow breaking pregnancy.

The women in Sparta had more freedom than women in Athens because Spartan women were allowed to buy properties when their husbands had gone to war meanwhile women in Athens could not, Spartan women were allowed to choose whom to marry and they were given education and Athenian women were not not allowed to choose who to marry, their parents did, the Athenian women were not given education except life in home
Because the husbands and fathers didn't want their wife/daughter to be showing her body off, he owned her there for got to choose what she wore.
