There are about 1,50,000 Jats in Himachal Pradesh, they are mainly Hindu Jats. They are about 1% (approx) of the total population of the state. Recently Jats in Himachal Pradesh got OBC status with the efforts of Mr. Harnam Singh Gill, State president of Himachal Jat Kalyan Parishad. He can be contacted at 01892-232283 for more information. Mostly Jats are in army or migrated to others states for work. Jats are not politically active. There is only one MLA but minister in Himachal Pradesh cabinet from Jats. Jats in Himachal Pradesh are economically poorer than Jats in other states. They speak bholi- pharhi. Mainly Hindu jats are known by Chaudhary and Ghirth people. Regarding gotra generly Himachal Pradesh Jats are same gotra like in Punjab & Haryana few of them are- Kundhal, Gill, Kaundal/Kondal, Syal, Riar, Chang, Kang, Randhawa, Sandhu, Sidhu, Sahota, Bhatti, Khaire, Badal, Chawala, Kangri, Nara, Bhakal, Dhayal, Kahalon, Nanda, Rasen, Bains, Dadwal, Rilach, Bagga etc.
No,Kalra surname belongs to arora khatri caste (pure vedic kshatriya) Kalra is descendant of Raja kalrai and Raja Kalrai is descendant of luv (shree ram ji son ) History of Arora dynasty 🏹 Aroras are descendants of Maharaja Arut, who was a Suryavanshi Kshatriya king. Arut Vanshi Kshatriyas are mentioned in Bhavishya Purana. In Mahabharata they are described as Aratta Kshatriyas whose kingdom was named Shivi and the capital of that kingdom was Arutpura. This kingdom was around the border of northern Sindh and Punjab. Today Arutpura is known as Aror Kot or Arora in Sindh. In later history, it is also mentioned that Aratta Kshatriyas helped Chandragupta Maurya in overthrowing the powerful empire of the Nanda dynasty. Later some Aratta Kshatriyas went into the horse trade from Central Asia. Aratta Kshatriyas came to be known as Arora in later times. Rai dynasty of Sindh which ruled from 5th to 7th century belonged to Lohana branch of Aroda. Historical document Chachnama mentions that father of Sindh king Dahir Chach (Yash) was a minister of Rai king of Aroda and killed Rai king by deceit and captured his kingdom. Chach and his son Dahir later suppressed Aroda and imposed restrictions on them because they considered Aroda a threat to their kingdom. Due to this reason when Sindh was attacked by Muhammad bin Qasim in 712 AD, Aroda did not help King Dahir due to which he was defeated and Muslims ruled India for the first time. Later due to continuous attacks of Muslims on Sindh and Punjab, Aroras could not re-establish their kingdom and Arora dynasty disintegrated. Arora Khatri settled in different provinces like Sindh, Punjab, Afghanistan and adopted different professions for livelihood like trade, farming. Arora Khatri later matrimonial relations were formed with Khatris and Bhatis of Punjab. Arora's original gotra is Kashyap because they are Suryavanshi. Arora has many surnames like - Gulati, Chawla, Batra, Taneja, Juneja, Dudeja, Tuteja, Raheja, Mehta, Miglani, Khanna, Sardana, Ahuja, Rajpal, Kukreja, Saluja, Chhabra, Kalra, Wadhwa, Sachdeva, Geda, Manchanda, Khattar, Mehndiratta, Dua, Gambhir, Madan, Dhingra, Narula, Pahwa, Narang, Gandhi..etc..
