There are actually eight different Eleazar's mentioned in the Bible.

1. A son of High Priest Aaron and his wife Elisheba, who was part of the priesthood of Israel at the time of Moses. (Leviticus 8, Exodus 6:16, 18, 20, 23; Numbers 1:1, 3:2,32)

2. The son of Abinadab (1Samuel 7:1, 2).

3. An Ahohite who was one of David's three outstanding 'mighty men'. (1Chronicles 11:12-14; 2Samuel 23:9, 10).

4. Son of Mahli of the tribe of Levi. (1Chronicles 23:21, 22).

5. Son of someone named Phinehas (Ezra 8:29, 32, 33).

6. A descendant of Parosh who listened to Ezra and dismissed foreign wives.(Ezra 10:25, 44).

7. A Levite priest in Nehemiah's day, who was present at the inauguration of the rebuilt wall of Jerusalem.(Nehemiah 12:42).

8. An ancestor of Joseph (Jesus' step-father).(Matthew 1:15)
