The People Were Magi
In the King James version In Matthew 4 # Satan came to Jesus when he was fasting and tempted him to turn stones to bread. # Satan took Jesus to the top of the temple in Jereusalem and tempted him to jump off, saying that angels would protect him. # Next Satan offered Jesus all the kingdoms of the world if he would worship Satan.
Revelation 17:1a - Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and talked with me...Rev. 19:10 - And I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, "See that you do not do that! I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy."This angel serves as John's "escort" through the latter visions of Revelation. His name is never given.
This will depend upon what your religious beliefs are. Most conservative Protestant Christians, and historically the Roman Catholic Church, stated the Jewish ruling elite and priests came to arrest Jesus. However, most progressive Protestant Christians believe the Romans arrested Jesus for inciting a religiously-based riot around Pesach.
Nicodemus, a Pharisee and member of the Jewish ruling council, came to see Jesus late at night to discuss his teachings and inquire about his connection to God. This encounter is recorded in the Gospel of John.
Saint Andrew was a disciple of John the Baptist who followed Jesus after hearing his teachings. Andrew met Jesus along with his brother Peter while they were fishing, and Jesus called them to become his disciples. Through this encounter, Andrew came to know Jesus and became one of his closest followers.
No. Jesus came thousands of years After the Greeks.
The Eleutheran Adventurers
They did. In fact they came to America to escape religious persecution and the freedom to worship in their own way.
Because the Angel of the Lord told them - in Luke 2 10. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
So [Jesus] came to a town of Samaria called Sychar, near the field that Jacob had given to his son Joseph. Jacob's well was there; so Jesus, wearied as he was from his journey, was sitting beside the well. It was about the sixth hour. A woman from Samaria came to draw water... The woman said to him, "Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet. Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you say that in Jerusalem is the place where people ought to worship." Jesus said to her, "Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth." John 4:5-7,19-24 Jesus is saying here that location is not important, but that it is the truth of who we worship that is important.
Angelina Jolie is nothing like Jesus. Jesus came to the earth to save the world. Angelina is just another person that needs Jesus in her life.
According to the Gospel of Luke, angels came and informed one group of shepherds, so that they could go and worship Jesus in the manger. The author of Matthew's Gospel knew nothing of this particular event.According to the Gospel of Matthew, magi came following a star from the east, so that they could worship Jesus in the house where he was born. The author of Luke's Gospel knew nothing of this particular event, and the star was not recorded by any of the scribes who recorded all other interesting celestial events of the time. Even stranger is the reported ability of a star to move from the east to Jerusalem then back towards the south-east to Bethlehem, where it enabled the magi to identify the exact house in which the baby Jesus was to be found.
A:Matthew's Gospel: Magi, or 'wise men', came following a star from the east to worship Jesus. They found Jesus in the house in Bethlehem where Joseph and Mary lived and brought him gifts. Afterwards, the young family fled from Bethlehem to Egypt for fear of King Herod, who sought to have Jesus killed. Luke's Gospel: Shepherds came to worship Jesus. After 8 days he was circumcised according to custom. After 40 days, the young family travelled to Jerusalem to present Jesus at the Temple, where he was recognised as the Messiah, then returned peacefully to their home in Nazareth, never having to leave the kingdom ruled by King Herod.
We worship Jehovah God. Psalms 83:18 says "that people may know that you, whose name is Jehovah, You alone are the most High over all the earth."But because we worship, pray, give praise, etc. to Jehovah alone, some think that means we don't believe in Jesus Christ. But that is most certainly not true.We believe Jesus is God's son and we acknowledge and admire how he came to earth to preach, teach, and die for our sins. Our entire ministry (the door-to-door thing we do) is based on the work that Jesus did in his ministry. We just don't believe that Jesus and Jehovah are one being, so we don't worship Jesus.
The wise men (Iran? Iraq?) from the east came to worship the Messiah spoken of in the Old Testament as he told Herod the King. They presented precious commodities - gold, frankincence and myrrh in worship. Bob Rifle
