to end the war
The Puritans settled in two main colonies in America: Massachusetts Bay Colony and the Plymouth Colony. These colonies were established in the early 17th century by Puritan separatists seeking religious freedom and a new way of life.
Their leader was John Winthrop. They were friends with Quakers They thought it was only possible to go to heaven if you were part of the elect. (which was very rare). You are destined to Hell Drinking beer was a very big sin== == == ==Puritans were followers of the teachings of Calvin and believed, like the Separatists, that man was born in sin and they all bore the guilt of Adam and Eve. To become saved, they would have to prove they were worthy while here on earth. To be worthy one would prosper, be faithful, and lead a successful life. Instead of separating from the Church of England, they wanted to “purify” the Church of the influence of the Catholic Church within the Anglican Church, thus the name, Puritans. Puritans wanted to remove themselves from non-Puritans. They originally wanted to leave Great Britain because they were not pleased with the way non-Puritans were worshipping without much interference. They knew what were Indian's...
The Puritans were a group of people who were really hardcore fighters against the Anglican church and the Catholic church. The Pilgrims, though similar to the Puritans in that they both separated from the Anglican church, were different from the Puritans because they were just separatists, and didn't fight hard against the Anglicans. All they wanted was refuge from the volatile political situation of the time. Protestant: a member of a group of Protestants in 16th- and 17th-century England and 17th-century America who believed in strict religious discipline and called for the simplification of acts of worship. The movement was an attempt to remove Roman Catholic influences from the Church of England. Pilgrimage: religious journey: a journey to a holy place, undertaken for religious reasons with one dogma and belief as the Muslim go Makkah, Saudi Arabia and gathered there at Eid-ul-Azha... So the big Difference is Protest and unity ...
The Puritans believed that God had chosen certain people to go to heaven or hell.
This belief is known as predestination. The Puritans believed that God had predestined certain individuals for salvation before the beginning of time.
Puritans and Separatists

The Puritans settled in two main colonies in America: Massachusetts Bay Colony and the Plymouth Colony. These colonies were established in the early 17th century by Puritan separatists seeking religious freedom and a new way of life.
One of the reason the Puritans went to North America was because they did not agree with the church of England and they were not allowed to practice their own religion.
The Separatists firstly settled in Plymouth :)
for religious freedom
Holland
The king of England sent the Puritans over to America because they wanted to reform the religion at the time.
They wanted to find religious freedom. People in England had to follow the Church of England, which was led by the king, King Henry VIII. That meant people had to follow his rules and laws. Some people, called separatists, wanted to break away from the church and create their own church. So the separatists went to America to practice their religious beliefs. They were also known as the Puritans. They did not grant religious freedom to others who did not share their religious beliefs.
The Massachusets colony was founded first by the Pilgrims, who were Puritans (and Separatists). Puritans were a movement within the Church of England (Anglican) that favored a more Reformed theology and felt that the English reformation did not go far enough - that the Anglicans were still too similar to the Catholic Church. While Puritans tried to push these reforms from within the Church of England, Separatists felt there was no room left for them there. Starting in 1630, these groups started migrating heavily to Massachusets.
