Ok this may be long, but Halloween began with two tribes called the druids and the keltics well their new years eve was on October 31 and their new years was on November 1 so on the 31 of October they believed evil spirits would come out and haunt the night. So to scare them away they would carve scary faces into radishes and beats and stuff that looked kinda like the spirits. and i wanna say all of this was in Scottland or Ireland but I'm not sure. But any way they would also put their nicest foods and meals on the back porch to "satisfy" the spirits. But when the people migrated to America they didnt have access to beats or radishes so they just used pumpkins to carve into. And they would still put treats on their back porch. But i think kids say trick or treat because people back then used to play tricks and stuff on their houses and wreck things up. so they just started giving candy and treats to children and i guess it caught on to say trick or treat because the people used to give treats to the spirits and some people used to trick them and stuff. yup i hope that answers poeples questions
