jonah admitted to the mariners that he was the cause of the storm and asked them to throw him to the sea.
At first Jonah's relationship with God wasn't very good because God asked him to go to a city that Jonah did not want to go to so for punishment since he disobeyed God's command he was swallowed by a great fish(whale), finally Jonah went to that city and there relationship grew and was finally... how it was suppose to be! (You can get all of these answers and many other stories from the Bible, God's Word!) P.S. I am a true believer of the Bible and I also believe in Jesus Christ, the one true king.
It wasn't Noah, it was Jonah. Jonah was fleeing from God's request for him to preach to the wicked Assyrian city of Nineveh, since, as he later stated, he knew God to be merciful and he was afraid God would spare them if they repented (not a very kind attitude to have). The great fish was God's methodology of bringing Jonah back to where he started and bringing him to a point where he was ready to do what God wanted. The full account is in the Old Testament book of Jonah. Interestingly enough, despite the many scoffings over the years at the implausibility of this story, a man on a whaling expedition in the 19th century was recorded as having spent significant time in a whale, and lived to tell of it. This is not to say that Jonah's fish was actually a whale, as whales are mammals, but that it is not impossible.
"God is merciful" means that God shows compassion, forgiveness, and kindness towards humanity. It signifies that God is willing to pardon our shortcomings and is understanding of our faults. This belief is commonly found in religions such as Christianity and Islam.
Jonah had a few dilemas...Jonah was God's prophet when God asked him to go to the city of Nineveh. The people in that city were very wicked and God asked Jonah to warn them that if they didn't change, they'd be destroyed.First Dilema: Jonah did not want to go because the people in Nineveh had such a brutal reputation, so fearfully he got on a boat going in the opposite direction. Now, because Jonah was afraid, and did not obey God's command, God caused a big storm to hit the boat Jonah was on, nearly sinking it. (Jonah 1:1-3)Second Dilema: The sailors were afraid, so Jonah made the decision to jump into the ocean so the boat would not be destroyed. (Jonah 1:4-16)When he did, he was swallowed by a big fish, which brought him to Nineveh. (Jonah 1:17-2:10) Once at Nineveh, Jonah preached to the town and gave them warning, and to his surprise, they LISTENED. (Jonah 3:1-4:5)Third Dilema: Jonah was upset because, though he had preached their distruction, and in his opinion they deserved to die for their wickedness, God chose to forgive them. God used the bottle gord tree as an illustration and Jonah had to adjust his attitude.(Jonah 4:5-11)
Because of their sins:Jonah 1:1-2New King James Version (NKJV)Jonah's Disobedience1 Now the word of the Lord came to Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, 2 "Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry out against it; for their wickedness has come up before Me."God forgave the city because they fully repented - unlike the Children of Israel who continuously fell backwards:Jonah 3:10New King James Version (NKJV)10 Then God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God relented from the disaster that He had said He would bring upon them, and He did not do it.
I don't know that he really fully learned his lesson. He definitely learned to not go against God - that didn't turn out too well for him. But, as the Veggietales movie would say: "The question is not what did Jonah learn? The question is - what did you learn?" And the lessons we can take from his story are that we should always be merciful and compassionate.Jonah, even after being in the belly of the whale, didn't understand that he should be compassionate towards the people of Nineveh. At the end of the book of Jonah, he is sitting there, waiting for Nineveh to burn. He doesn't realize that God was merciful and gave them a second chance, just like he gave a second chance to Jonah.
The main person's in Jonah are God and Jonah.
In the Bible, the merciful are those who show compassion, kindness, and forgiveness towards others. They are willing to help and show mercy to those who are in need, regardless of whether they deserve it or not. It is often said that God himself is merciful and encourages his followers to be the same.

Jonah's journey to Nineveh in the Bible is significant because it demonstrates God's mercy and forgiveness towards all people, regardless of their background or nationality. It also highlights the importance of obedience to God's will and the power of repentance. Jonah's story serves as a reminder that God's love and grace are available to everyone, and that no one is beyond redemption.
Jonah. God told him to go to Ninevah and preach but Jonah ran from God, he boarded a ship bound for a far away place so God sent a storm and Jonah was thrown overboard. It wasn't Jonah's time to die so god sent a whale to swallow Jonah, Jonah spent three days inside the whale praying to God for forgiveness so God had the whale spit Jonah onto shore and Jonah went to preach the gospel in Ninevah as God had commanded.
Mary, the Mother of Jesus was merciful to God.
