In my view the purpose of Acts was to compare Peter and Paul, in order to show Peter to be the greater apostle. George Wells (Evidence for the Historical Jesus) quotes A. J. Mattill as saying that the dominant view of Acts' presentation of Paul is that in Acts and the epistles there are two Pauls, the historical Paul of the authentic epistles and the legendary Paul of Acts.

Peter's vision was important because it showed him that God included the Gentiles in His plan of salvation and that he should not consider them unclean. This led to Peter accepting Cornelius, a Gentile, into the Christian community and paved the way for the spread of Christianity to non-Jews.

Vision for me is seeing what next to happen and i believe the one who has the vision to see has developed inner senses/ related to involved person or have something to do with the on coming event that may take place.
