Morrie believes that people generally fear death and avoid discussing it. He encourages open conversations about death as a way to better understand and accept it. I would classify myself under this belief because I agree that discussing death openly can help us appreciate life more fully and alleviate some of the fear surrounding it.

From the day a baby was born, his or her fate was controlled by the gods. The baby was brought to the priest to find out its fate. Would it live or die? Once that was determined, the baby began to learn hard work. Boys were taught to be good warriors and girls were taught to take care of the home. The rich boys attended school from the age of 12. They went for three years to train to be a warrior, to learn the Aztec traditions and to learn about the Aztec calendar. Boys from common families also went to school to learn how to use and make weapons, to learn how to farm the land and to learn about the Aztec religion. The reason why it takes many years to become a FULLY QUALIFIED priest is because they have to learn the way of life of the priest because of the sacrifices they have made and the commitment they need. They also have to study and learn the whole bible, they are required to earn a Bachelor's Degree and then go to seminary school. This all takes about 5-6 years.(As part of their training they are expected to work alongside a senior priest.)
