The Three-toed Box turtle is not listed on the International Union for Conservation of Nature, (IUCN) Red List or the US Fish and Wildlife Service, Endangered Species List. They seem to be popular pets, even though their needs are rather specific to size, and conditions of their enclosures to be happy, and healthy in captivity. It appears that a few individual states may have some protection for this species, focused on preventing the removal, and sale of "wild caught species" from the state. I couldn't find any clear regulations, or guidelines from an approved agency or organization. For more details, please see sites listed below.
