Like even on of some monitor lizards (the best known being the Komodo Dragon), their venom reduces blood pressure and prevents blood coagulation, resulting in shock to the victim. However, because if the green iguana's size and the inefficient method of delivery of this venom, it poses no threat to humans or animals larger than itself. Used purely for the purpose of subduing small prey, the toxins in a green iguana's bite will do little more than cause throbbing at the bite site in a human.
