Don't worry. But only give him/her bananas as a treat.
probably not its not a good idea. the beta fish and the snapping turtle would fight each other till the detah. and the turtle would end up winning
Yes, actually bacon has been proven to increase the lifespan of snapping turtles...lol jk, its probably not good for them.
The good thing about a baby snapping turtle is that they dont like to bask so u dont need a light. U should set the tank up with a rock and a piece of lettuce, or some kind of water plants so that the baby snapper can hide under it
If your turtle is a snapping turtle than naming him/her 'Snappy', will be quite snappy of you.
There are some people who think that it is wrong to have one as a pet. but by my means. i think its alright to have a snapping turtle or alligator snapping turtle as a pet. but i mean if you're gonna have one well make sure it is in a good enviorment and that its not mistreated at least.
Your baby snapping turtle would have night and day in the wild, so in your terrerium, it also needs darkness, but the tank still needs to maintain the same temperature. You can get heat globes that don't generate light, so a good idea might be to have a light emitting one also, and to switch them over at night time, so your turtle has a healthier environment and better chance of survival.
Yes, but they are very hard to skin and clean.
What you should do, is just be paitent and wait. eventualy, the thing your feeding your snapper will die,(if not already dead), or the snapper will eat it. while i writing this, I'm looking ant my snapper and a tadpole i just cought for him , and i am dying to see how he'll eat it or how he'll kill it. All he's doing is sitting on top of it. BORING!!!!!
It is not good practice to deny the turtle what it will eat.
We saved an egret from the mouth of a snapping turtle. I don't know why the turtle hung onto the bird's foot for as long as it did, nor if it would have eaten the bird. I just know it held it's foot in it's mouth for a long time while the egret struggled to get free, until we rescued it.
im not sure i just want to know because i took a snapping turtle ( from children who found it) and kept it for 2 weeks then i decided to let it go im not sure iff it will survive or not or if its mother left her for good!
Here's a description of a snapping turtle: large head, long thick neck and back of shell has sawtooth edge. The height of the head end is a lot bigger than the tail end. There is a good picture on the "Nova Scotia Turtles" page of the Nova Scotia Museum of Natural History website. Scroll to the bottom of the Museum website and click Nova Scotia Nature; scroll to the bottom and click on Nova Scotia Turtles, Click on "fresh water turtles" and scroll down to Snapping turtle.
