usally the mama red-eared slider just lays her eggs and leaves them all alone but if a red eared slider is kept in captivity the mama takes care of the baby until the baby shows its mama that it can stand on its own two feet which is usally 2-3 months after it is hatched.
I own one and you can find them in any pet store in arizona.
No. Yes, the red eared slider is sold in some states.
turtles need to bask in sunlight but if it's too strong, it will run away, if you have the right temperature, your turtle will stay under the sun for a long time. there is no limit to basking, just watch until your turtle walks away from it
I don't recommend that you purchase another species to live with your red-eared slider(s). In the end one of your pets will be eaten, harassed, or they might even pass parasites to one another. Therefore I suggest you get another red-eared slider rather than a whole different species to keep company for your pet. Remember the more terrapins you own, the more space is required.
It depends if its a red eared slider or a paint turtle or a snapping turtle (witch i doubt you have) im just gonna tell you all of the ones i listed red eared slider if its the first time first time 2 to 20 for a paint turtle 2 to 20 eggs and a snapping turtle 1 to ten so i hoped i helped
No, it is not illegal to own pet turtles in New York State, although most colleges have rules against keeping pets in your dorm.
They are consumers because they don't make their own food, they eat small fish and plants like omnivores so they are consumers.

Fairly easy though they are very dirty if you are thinking of one as a pet. They grow very fast and can get pretty good sized take up a lot of room. And I know that it is illegal to own them as pets in the state where they are native in the wild so be sure that they are even legal as pets in your area.
I find that my Baby Turtles have their own personalities, I have 3 red Ear sliders, 3 yrs, 1yr, 8mos old. My babies like to play with each other most of the time. Turtles are community animals, they should be in pairs.
well the male will do the mating ritual by flickering his claws around her face if she accepts she will sink to the bottom of the water where they will mate if not she will become aggressive and may attack.the only process i found to check if theyre pregnant is to put your finger in the cavity where she hides her legs, you could gently feel the eggs.it is un healthy for your turtle to lay her eggs in water and should not be done.turtles like all reptiles lay there eggs in land, she diggs her own hole in the dirt that's where she will deposit the eggs, the hole could take a few weeks to borrow.
