As humans, we have bacteria on our skin and inside our large intestine. The same is true for lizards although their bacteria is different from ours. We can get sick from lizard bacteria just as they can get sick from ours.

Salmonella is a bacteria that exists in lizards digestive tract and is released by things such as poop.

If the lizard has a clean cage, been washed or in other words has good hygiene, I wouldn't expect terrible results. Remember that they still DO carry harmful bacteria and you can never truly predict its effects. It certainly can't be beneficial to have a lizard fall into your food.
