Yea, especially the little ones. They can probably run faster then most people off the starting line, but a runner is probably faster in the long run.
There is an "iguanid"(a member of the Iguana family(which is a large portion of all lizards) called the "Jesus Christ lizard" because it can run so fast that it doesn't sink in water, it just runs across it. I think its more commonly called the green basilisk but I'm not sure.
fast
because Iguanas need to save energy and heat, and they do that by not moving a lot. they need the energy when they do have to move.
Iguanas do not have movable ears like some other animals; instead, they possess external ear openings covered by a flap of skin. These openings allow them to hear sounds, but the ear structure itself is fixed. While their ears don't move, iguanas are highly sensitive to vibrations and sounds in their environment.
Somewhat slowly unless in a fight or horny Source: Mexico
Iguanas are very interesting ! For starters, they grow super fast and most of their full grown length is in their tail (about two-thirds). Iguanas have salmonella bacteria in their stomach to help them digest food. Sometimes, this salmonella can leave their bodies and get on their bodies. (Always wash your hands after handling an iguana!) Finally, most iguanas can regenerate their tails if they need to.
