You can but they might eat it, if it is brand new. I would wait until the baby has gotten big enough to defend itself (so around the same size as at least the smallest parent) just to be safe.
Well, red ear sliders can get 14 inches while map turtles at the largest are around 8 to 10 inches. Have two large ponds in Florida and have six turtles. Soft turtles can get huge and grow to the size of what environment they are living in. Have one in its own pond almost two feet round.
I have 2 mud turtles in my backyard pond with a dozen goldfish and small koi. The turtles are too slow to catch the fish but sure wiped out the snail population...

A baby pond turtle eats many different things, such as: Shrimp and liver. Those 2 things are like super vitamin pills for them. Young turtles do not eat lettuce, although adult turtles might appreciate the dark green leafy lettuces.
well it might over populate and everything will die out because there won't be enough to eat because of to many turtles.
