today July 7 10 i let my red eared slider go into the wild because he was getting to big and he was 3 years old was excited and ran straight into a lake that has lots of red and yellow eared slider turtles in it so i think he very happy

You should never release a pet into the wild, not only is there a high risk that the animal will die because it doesn't know how to care for itself but, there could also be a risk of upsetting the balance in the ecosystem you release the turtle in. For example look up the effects the Snakehead fish has had on Lake Erie. Your best bet, if you no longer want the turtle, is to find a shelter, pet store or friend that is willing to take the turtle and find it a new home.

Captive turtles should not be released into the wild. Not only are they unaccustomed to finding food for themselves, they can also get sick from being exposed to germs that wild turtles carry, or, they can spread their own germs to the wild turtles, and kill off the wild population.

Try putting an ad in the paper, or in local pet shops, advertising that your turtle is up for adoption. You can also try contacting local zoos; some of them have petting zoos or zoo classes for children which they need turtles for.
