Hi -
So when turtle shell repair methods were first being developed, super glue and epoxy repair methods were the first techniques attempted. While this was an admirable idea to ensure the turtle was not vulnerable, unfortunately all it did was seal in infection without the ability to treat it.
Super glue/epoxy/fiber glass techniques are no longer recommended for turtle shell repairs. Instead, there have been several techniques that have been proven both effective and safe for the patient.
- place small areas of epoxy along the shell fracture (making sure it does NOT enter the wound bed) and place sewing hooks, zip ties, etc on the epoxy
- after the epoxy has set, use small gauge wire, make a simple figure-eight wire tie and gently twist to bring the two edges of the shell close together
Many local wildlife rehabilitators and exotic veterinarians are familiar with this method and are willing to help teach. Please consider contacting them prior to attempting a shell repair.
You shouldn't use Super Glue (or anything water soluble) . But, hot glue is okay if you're going to seal it after.
Yes, you can glue wire to a shell using a strong adhesive, such as epoxy or super glue. Ensure that both the wire and the shell surface are clean and dry before applying the glue for better adhesion. Keep in mind that the bond may not be very durable if the item will be subject to stress or movement, so consider reinforcing with additional methods if necessary.
NO super glue is not elmers
No, super glue does not taste good. Ingesting super glue can be toxic and harmful to your health. It is important to keep super glue away from your mouth and out of reach from children.
Super glue will not stick to polyethylene or CPVC.
Nail Glue or Super Glue. If your fake nails came with nail glue use that, if not super glue because it is the same thing. Nail Glue=Super Glue (Just in a different package) -Lizzy (The Cat Lady)
Any smooth, hard surface can be glued by Super Glue.
Hot glue and super glue are for different uses. Both are good within their use.
with glue
Pure Acetone will destroy super glue.
go to youtube and type FIX BROKEN TURTLE BEACH PX21 HEADSET. If that does not work, then try super glue or really tough tape
Super glue gel is very good for glueing objects to an egg shell. I might be leery of giving super glue to a bunch of 10 year old, though. Tacky glue, which is similar to Elmers, takes longer to set up, but will cause fewer problems.
