i have herd of garden snakes eating dead insects but i dont think its true becuse they find it better alive.
garden snakes like to eat the items in all gardens. and sometimes the insects that live in the garden plants. they arent like other snakes, most other snakes eat other animals and etc.
Small insects such as beetles, caterpillars, mice and garden snakes.
Common Garter or Garden snakes eat the same as larger ones, except they feed on smaller worm or larvae and insects.
Do you mean grass snakes? if so they eat mostly amphibians especially the common toad and common frog but they are also known to eat earthworms.
Insects that feed on garden worms include beetles, centipedes, and ground beetles. These insects help regulate the population of worms in the garden ecosystem. Additionally, birds and other small animals may also prey on garden worms.
== == They will eat small fish and insects as neonates and as they grow may move on to larger prey such as frogs or mice.
All snakes are carnivorous (including insects and worms). Garter snakes eat insects, worms, and frogs. Note: "Garden snake" is a mispronunciation of "Garter snake" which was named because its stripes looked like the decorative stripes on suspenders (garters).
Insects live in the garden, They eat from whatever organic material is in the ground and they will eat from what is growing in the garden.
They eat small rodents, lizards, snakes, scorpion, and insects .

I do not think Garter snakes eat other snakes. They are carnivors, but I dont think they eat their own kind.
