There is no snake currently living, that has legs. Researchers have uncovered an ancient fossil which appears to have been a snake with legs. Named Haasiophis, it was a metre-long snake that lived in the water, and was apparently found in a quarry near Jerusalem.

However, it is not known whether this creature shared characteristics with the snakes of today, such as being cold-blooded, breathing through lungs and having scaly skin, so it cannot definitively be referred to as a "snake".
