Do snapping turtles live in water?

Usually only alligator snappers do, but I found a normal baby snapper in the water once

Yes they can. I used to fish them and it is impossible to get the hook out. However they get easily frightened, I know this from experience because I was out canoeing one day and I tipped into a swarm of snapping turtles, and I was scared I rushed back onto the canoe when a nearby friend told me that they ran away and were as scared as me. So if you see a snapping turtle, don't be scared and don't look stupid like I did. In addition snapping turtles can only live in small lakes and rivers.

Most snapping turtles don't like to bask often, especially at a young age due to their vulnerability to predators in the wild. As long as the turtle is swimming normally, eating, and coming up for air it should be ok. A good site to find out more about snapping turtles is Austins Turtle Page.

no but yes cause they can only swallow there food under water they some times like to bask so i add a giant rock and get a heat lamp or lamp so they CAN CAUSE I ALSO HAVE A SNAPPING TURTLE
