An initial strike catches the prey, a Python has 4 rows of teeth (two each side) on its upper jaw and 2 rows on the bottom. The strike is fairly quick, close to that of a blink, and if the snake hits its target just as quick as the strike the snake will coil itself around its prey and begins constriction. When striking defensively a snake will strike and release but when hunting a Ball Python will strike and hold until the constriction process has killed the prey. Contrary to movies, constriction doesn't break bones, as the prey exhales air the snake will squeeze tighter preventing the prey from inhaling, usually resulting in shock and eventual suffocation. The snake waits for the heartbeat to stop before consuming, in rare cases a snake won't coil the prey completely but using just part of its body applying force tot he prey against a tree or rock or even the ground to achieve the same effect.
all snakes that are not venomous, for example boas and pythons, will kill their prey by constriction.
no, they do the same. they constrict their prey.
Some snakes kill by constricting the prey until dead - boas, pythons, gopher snakes, etc. Some, such as garter snakes simply overpower the prey with their jaws and swallow the prey. See the image above.
No, they are not venomous. However, they are very large snakes with very strong feeding instincts. Even without venom, they can inflict a nasty bite, and should be left to experienced reptile keepers.
Pythons lay eggs, boas give live birth. They differ in a lot of other ways as well, including size (pythons are generally bigger), scale pattern and facial features. Pythons sense heat through "pits" along the side of their nose, while boas have heat sensory scales. To name a few.
Yes they are. They use constriction to kill their prey - as they have no venom to deliver a fatal bite.
boas are dangerous snakes but they are not neither poisonous nor venomous as they constrict their prey and kill.
Kingsnakes. They actually hunt and kill other snakes using constriction. That is how pythons and boas kill their prey. They wrap their bodies around the neck or torso, and keep squeezing until they can't breath anymore.
Pythons are large snakes which kill their prey by wrapping it so tightly it cannot breathe and is crushed. Cobras kill their prey by biting it and injecting lethal venom. Both cobras and pythons are native to Africa and Asia.
No. Boas are constrictors and kill their prey via suffocation.
Retic and burmese pythons can prey on mongoose. Mongoose are too small for these pythons.
Venomous snakes might kill a goat in self defense. Large constrictors, such as pythons and boas, may kill a goat as food.
