What kind of gecko should a first time gecko owner get?

Leopard geckos are great. They're cute, calm, cheap and durable. Just give them some water, and something to hide under, a heat source, and dump some crickets or mealworms in there every couple days and they can live to be 20 or 25!

Do leopard gecko shed?

yes, they do. Luckily, unlike a snake, they don't leave their shed behind for you to clean up. They eat it! A gecko that is shedding is very cool looking and something that a first-time gecko owner does not want to miss.

Can a leopard gecko's cage be put in front of a window?

Well, a leopard gecko's tank/cage can be placed anywhere in a room, and as long as the window is not open, making the cage cold, it should be fine. Geko's need to tell when its day and night so make sure sunlight can get in. I hope this helps, A leapord Gecko owner.

The owner of the gecko. Female geckoes aren't the most maternal creatures around, so the hatchlings are completely helpless and doomed without the care of the gecko's owner.

Can leopard geckos eat crickets that you find outside?

The Rhacodactylus Cilatus, as well as it's neighbouring cousins are omnivores. Relying on a variety of: fallen fruits, Tree saps, Pollens, Nectar, Crickets, Roaches, Worms, etc.. They require the variety in their diet for the best results in growth and development. A crested geckos jaw structure is a lot weaker due to their diet. Due to this most breeders recommend a softer exo skeleton, and crickets and Dubai roaches perfectly match their needs. Crickets being distributed throughout chain pet stores are constantly changing. The reptile hobby has now introduced the black field cricket, they are known to be harmful to your gecko if left in the terrarium over night, do not leave a feeding unattended using these. the common brown cricket is also readily available. The biggest difference between the two are their tendencies to jump. The blacks are a lot more active and the geckos have a dandy time chasing them down. Either of the two species of crickets are acceptable for the crested gecko. Your crested should be on a weekly feeding routine, this can vary depending on the owner. Some people offer crickets once a week others twice a month. A healthy stable diet for both baby/young and or adult geckos are similar but this could be an accepted schedule: Legend: CGD = Crested gecko diet Crix = Crickets coated with calcium CGD² = leave the previous days gecko diet in another night (same bowl) DOR = Day of Rest hatchlings/babys/juvis: Mondays- CGD Tuesdays- CGD² Wednesdays- CGD days-CGD² Fridays- Crix Saturdays-CGD Sundays-CGD² sub adult/adults: Mondays- CGD Tuesdays-CGD² Wednesdays- CGD Thursdays-CGD² Fridays- Crix Saturdays- DOR Sundays- DOR

How old is the oldest leopard gecko?

Hello, I am a first time leopard gecko owner, so take this with a grain of salt, but I believe at about 4-5 months they had basically all the markings that they now have as adults (if not a little sooner). Mine are both about two years old now.

Why would a male leopard gecko show aggression toward its owner and toward its female companion other than normal mating?

It could be rough mating, as geckos do. All you can do for sure is separate them. Of course, if you do, they may stop mating afterward.
