How do you know that your bearded dragon has a parasite?

External parasites - such as ticks or mites - will usually be visible around the lizards eyes and mouth. Though you may need a magnifying glass to see them, as they're so tiny. Internal parasites are often expelled in the lizards faeces.

Take a fresh (not dried out) fecal sample to an experienced reptile veterinarian, and have them do a fecal float to check for parasites and parasite eggs. They can then prescribe an appropriate treatment.

Signs that your dragon MIGHT have internal parasites include loss of appetite, diarrhea, and vomiting, and it may have all or only one of these signs. Lack of these signs does NOT mean your dragon is free of parasites.

External parasites would be able to be seen - as tiny 'bug' crawling on the snake's skin. Internal parasites may be present in the reptiles excrement.
